Both of my pet jumping spiders have died and as a way to still have them with me I put them into these little glass tubes. One who has been in there for almost a year now has been doing fine but for the other one who has been dead for about 2 months has started molding. Does anyone know the reason for this and how to get rid of it. I don’t want to have to throw her out
(The first picture is the first jumping spider that died and didn’t mold second picture is of the one that did mold. let me know if you need better pictures)

Pretty sure I've seen others pin dead Ts without molding, so I think there is probably a process if you look around here. You dont need a trigger warning for a dead spider tho lol.

Considerate of you, but imo people have become too soft in that regard. If somebody cannot look at or discuss a dead spider they probably shouldn't be on the internet, it gets worse.

I’d first change the title.

From ‘molting’ to ‘molding’, to have no confusion there between two.

Oof Thank you for telling me. It must have autocorrected to molting. Should I repost it with the correct title since I can't change it now?

Simple trick. Put a drop of BKC 1% in the container the specimen is in and seal it. Mold will never develop.

BKC Benzal Konium Chloride. An extremely powerful biocide and growth retardant. Used in food packaging on out to sterilizing houses and industrial work area. Just the vapor from a mild solution will prohibit all organism growth.
Can be bought as a mold killer in most hardware or paint stores.
