Probably a stupid question but I've always wondered; why are some OW T's know as 'baboons'? Where'd the name come from? And what does a species have to have to be nicked named one?

The name related to pretty much all species of Theraphosidae from Africa.

We have to start calling South American tarantulas Marmoset spiders.

Edit: Nevermind, sounds harmless :troll:

Baboons love to eat them. I work with a man who is from Zimbabwe and he has watched baboons go crazy for them. They dig them up and snack on them by the dozens.
That's probably why they are so defensive.

Baboons love to eat them. Humans love to keep them. Damn primates.
