So weird, mine molted 2 weeks ago and for the first time when I go in for maintenance he retreats to his hide!
Before he was like " come at me " whenever I went anywhere near!

They act so shy after the molt. Mine is named Pouncy, cause she normally pounces onto everything that enters the enclosure. She recently molted and is very into spider yoga and shyly retreating now. Opposite world. I hope she's back to the old ways soon.

There must be something about terrestrial black tarantulas with white banded legs. My N. chromatus is as feisty as my A. genics ever were, if not more so. Though, it kind of beats them in the burst of speed department a little, in my opinion. When raising the A. genics, I was never overly concerned past regular caution that they would bolt out of their container. I am on full alert when I pop the lid of my chromatus of about 3 inch leg-span.
Same feeding response so far as well.

My N chromatus is about 4” dls now and while it’s a spaz, it just wants to hide when I open its enclosure. Otherwise it is about the same!
