Who would do this?

Might not have been the owner who did it. If the owner died or became homeless or something the guy cleaning out his stuff may not have liked spiders.

I can't understand the mentality of someone who would build up a collection, 'care' for them for some period of time, then just dump them to die. Shocking.

There were so many easy alternatives to doing this.
This isn't the 1st I've seen this sure a quick Google search will bring it up but I've seen a few stories like this over the years, all a think to myself when I read it is I wish I was the one who found them.

I would like to think it was an act of desperation. There were other places the Ts could have been dumped (like a garbage can) but someone brought them there.

Or just plain cruelty...my mom did this to me/my cats when I was about 13. Jokes on her, after destroying me all it did was make me love cats harder. And humans much, much less.

Someone desperate, yeah. I feel bad for them and their tarantulas. That being said, absolute kudos to the RSPCA for being knowledgable on what's essentially an exotic pet. There's some animal control centers in the US that can't tell the difference between a purebred husky and a Gray Wolf, let alone knowing the temperature requirements for specific tarantula species or being able to estimate their ages, or even better, having T owners (and thus potential adopters) on call. Very cool to see.

That's a good point, I didn't think of it in that way. It still could've been avoided though with a quick Google for T groups / info / local stores etc.

Thankfully most of them were re-homed! 🌈

True, just to many what-ifs to know. It is good most of them survived; this time of year it could have gone much worse.

I’m always worried that if something happened to me people would neglect my T’s just due to the fact they’re T’s. Almost want to make a will at 28 just bc of this. This is heartbreaking.
