My little Avicularia purpurea sling had its long-anticipated molt last night. Here it is doing post-molt stretches- 20231109_072142.jpg

Big news today as my juvenile male Phrynichus orientalis molted successfully. That means all 3 of my P. orientalis have survived a molt in my collection.

In addition, the larger of my female Poecilotheria ornata juveniles molted without me noticing, as has one of my Chilobrachys andersoni slings.

Tightest web cocoon I've had so far. Went to rehouse this sling and couldn't even see it for a second.

Sorry the photo sucks, I can't do anything about it.

Checked on my tiny T roatan and saw it had molted! I had a hard time making out what I was looking at till I noticed it was stuck on it's old skin. 🙁 I wet the enclosure more and put some drops of water directly on it's legs (the stuck area) and very gently took tweezers to try to get the skin off. No luck.

It was able to walk around and had a good bit of fight in it. So I figured I'd leave it and if it needed to lose the legs, it would. Checked this morning and alas-

Poor little Nugget.

I know! Maybe I should move him till the next molt. I'd hate for him to get picked on at such a young age. Could lead to a life full of threat postures.

Carrying on with the Theraphosinae trend both my sp Cuzco and sp Dorado moulted . All looks like it went well and both have picked up some colour instead of being see through slings, both still to small for gender so i haven'tyet retrieved their moults for dls.

Ivy my Psalmopoeus cambridgei also moulted but no pic as she's hiding in her web tunnel but I found a tiny moult at the entrance.

One that makes my heart sad to report Lil Mo my Kochiana brunnipes juvenile female moulted but hasn't survived. I am not sure what happened she was half way through everything looked fine but she just stopped moving. I waited a while thinking she was just resting but after a few hours it was clear she was no longer with me. I am truly gutted as she was my favourite out of my dwarf sp. Obviously no pic to go with this one.

Pete (left) and Repete (right). Brachypelma smithi ex annitha sac mates I've had since 3/4". The most days they've molted apart is 6. Pete molted first, and has been the pace setter for 3 out of 4 molts with me. Since he molted yesterday, it's now Repete's turn and is doing some premolt scratching/grooming as I write this.
