I feel so silly. I bought ten crickets and the following day there appeared to be more and some dead ones.

I removed the dead ones and the same thing the following day. Then today I learned, even crickets molt. 🤦

Now I'm left with the question of how do I know whether it's a molt or a dead cricket. They both look the same?..or whether it's a cricket molting and not dead?

Pay attention to detail- they do not look the same at all.

A molt will be an empty husk. A dead cricket will remain immobile and intact.
If you want to be really really sure, save them for a day or two in a seperate container and give it the ol' smell test. Take a big wiff. It'll smell like fresh popcorn. :D
