White stuff on abdomen

My T has this white flaky looking stuff on her abdomen right near her carapace. It almost looks like dry skin or dandruff. It’s not moving, but my first concern was mites. I got her a few days ago, so I have no idea how she was cared for prior aside from what the Tupperware box she was given to me in looks like. The box contained bone dry coco fiber, some sphagum moss, a piece of cork bark and no water. I will be rehousing her on Saturday when my new enclosure arrives in the mail. I kinda want to figure out what this stuff is since if I have to treat mites, I would prefer using a smaller temporary enclosure to treat them in vs her nice new one.
Has anyone seen anything like this. She’s so nice, I just want to make sure she’s okay.

Out of focus- looks like setae, not surprising with that species.

If those were grain mites your T would most likely be moving its legs a lot to try to get rid of them. Mine did.

Parasitic mites would be at areas of soft tissue like leg joints

I did my best with the picture, but zoomed in it kinda blurred out. For some reason my camera has been really weird lately. Anyhow, thank you for replying. I actually see you on here all the time and was actually hoping you would chime in as I value your opinion and knowledge. I feel much better.

If your tarantula has recently molted or is about to molt, this could be leftover exuvia. Sometimes the pieces of shed skin can look like dandruff. If the "dandruff" appears to be flaking or falling off in small pieces, it might be a sign of a skin issue or dehydration. Ensure that the humidity levels are appropriate for your tarantula's species.
Hope she's okay! 🥰

I only got her a few days ago and the Tupperware box she came in was dry as a bone. Like the coco fiber substrate was so dry it was fluffy. She also didn’t have a water dish. I gave her one and wet down a corner of her enclosure and she immediately went and took the longest drink ever. I don’t know when she last molted. She will be rehoused tomorrow once my new enclosures arrive, so she will finally be kept in a proper environment. Hopefully that will help. She did take a fat cricket 2 days ago, so I’m hoping that also helped to hydrate her a bit. Poor kid. Thanks for the reply!

Of course! I really hope your T is okay. I did a little more digging and it's a good chance its from dehydration.(But I'm no expert) But hopefully with a new enclosure and more moisture she'll be a-okay! Its a good sign she drank and took a cricket though, goodluck 🤞😊
