Howdy. Relatively new to this, in the sense of raising a baby Tarantula. I've had a few over the years, but always they have been fully matured when I came into contact with them. I recently got a Burgundy Goliath Birdeater sling (I believe. About 1 1/2 inch leg span) only 3 days ago. I was getting ready to move it to it's new terrarium, and noticed that it has some white spots/hairs on more than just the front two legs, but also on its abdomen and also what looks to be similar to dandruff. I did some googling but I'm not seeing anything that looks the same and everything I do find is generally regarding a fully matured T. I have yet to move it to its new enclosure as I'm not sure if this is a pre molt thing, or something wrong. I'll provide some pictures and videos. I should also add that there was a cricket left from her previous feed a day before getting the T. It had been right next to the t and even touching it's leg, but it had no interest at all. Any one able to provide some insight?

Additionally, If anyone has any tips on lowering the humidity of her new terrarium without a dehumidifier, it would also be appreciated. The substrate is coco fiber, top soil, and the moss with the weird name. Little piece of cork and a water bowl are the only other things in there. I have it stuck at 82% at 71.8°f. it'll go down to 74% if I take the cage top off(despite it being a mesh/vent top with nothing but holes) but rises once I put it back on. Will provide a vid of the terrarium as well. As far as Im aware, you wanna stick around 72% humidity. Thanks y'all. Appreciate any insight.

Apologies for the crappy pictures, will edit better ones in when I get off work.

What you are seeing is urticating hairs, which is completely normal. Fluffy or dandruff-like things on the abdomen is just your sling rubbing hairs. Don't be afraid if you see bald spots in the future from your specimen rubbing its abdomen.

Awesome. I never noticed the dandruff look on my older blondi, so I was worried. Any idea what the difference between "skin color" for premolting will be? Ik it darkens, but how dark will it be compared to normal? Just trying to make sure I don't mess this up. Hence the worry on humidity and such

Just keep the substrate moist and the waterdish full.
