White cricket?

When I went to check on my Ts this morning, I noticed a white cricket inside the enclosure of my juvenile E. pachypus. Of course I do remove crickets after a day if they are left uneaten, but this one came venturing out of the hide that the tarantula doesn´t use, so I figure it has been hiding from both the tarantula and myself there. The thing is, I am a little bemused by the colour of it and the cricket is too big to be a newborn!

It's just moulted -- it will darken.
Of course! That makes sense, but oddly enough I have never seen a freshly molted cricket for all those years I have been keeping Ts! I feel a bit ashamed now for asking such a stupid question, but we have -18°C outside so my brain is probably half frozen... :hurting:

Haha it's no biggie, it took me a long time to see my first freshly molted cricket too and you can bet I did a cartoonish double-take when I glanced over at the cage

It WAS tempting to say "OMG -- that is SO rare -- an ALBINO -- could you catch it safely and save it????" :playful: I guess since I breed crickets, I see so many I sometimes forget the surprise of first seeing one.

To add insult to injury -- I often will feed a newly moulted cricket to a post-moult-ready-to-chow-down T. I mean, the Ts fangs are black, but somehow, it just seems like a gentle re-entry into feeding world or something for the T. :(

Our people tell of the coming of the white cricket, he will lead us out of this critter keeper to paradise and save us from the fangs of the beast
