I may me going on a short vacation to Panama City with my family next week and I have been really interested in whip scorpions recently. Can any species be found around Panama City or within an hour or two's drive from it?
I'm afraid you might be out of luck in Panama City. Phrynus marginemaculatus can be found in Southern Florida, and down around the Keys and the Everglades, and Paraphrynus raptator can be found in parts of the Keys, but I think that's about it.
As chanda mentioned, they are only in South Florida, an eight to ten hour drive from Panama City. There are plenty of sights to see in South Florida, such as the Seaquarium and Zoo in Miami, the botanical gardens in Naples, Robert is Here in good old Homestead, meaning every one can probably find something to do.
