B. klaasi is sought after? Maybe it's a regional thing, but they're fairly cheap and abundant in the hobby over here.

I'd say it's P. metallica and that one... the one that looks like OBT with blue legs. Forgot the name.

If you're looking to make a quick buck - wrong hobby.

Aside that - P. metallica would be my guess. Although M. balfouri is probably also quite high up on the wishlists.

It varies. Depends on the collector, what his interests are, how rare something is, what the prices are. That changes month to month. There is NO one 'most sought after' species.

Probably right for the majority of those established collectors, indeed.

For your average hobbyist, probably P.metallica. Even though I do enjoy having one, its certainly not my most sought after species and a lot of people have them. My personal two sought after ones are G.iheringi and A. sp Kwitaria River. I missed out on the avic but I was fortunate to get the former on sale and its heading towards my house as we speak. But I don't think most people can deny that H.pulchripes is cool, but it will be a very long time before the prices come down as the breeding pool is just a few individuals who were probably smuggled out of Africa.

Those not readily available, such as Harpactira pulchripes, the rare/new Avics/Pachistopelma are much more sought after than anything in the poll. All are readily available from at least one dealer; though not all at prices people want to pay. As Storm said, if this is what it looks like it is, wrong hobby. I feel like if I click the poll I'm dooming spiders to slow death by petshop. :/

For me the "holy grail" in the hobby is H. pulchripes, I have never seen such a striking t. Aside from that, Xenesthis species are high on my wish list, and P. metallica gets an honorable mention along with G. iheringi.

I do wish H. pulchripes would become available.

Its crazy to me that this is where your head goes when asked this question? Is it not a fair question to ask since we are all collectors? I have some B. Klaasi and some M. Balfouri. I'm not looking to make a quick buck. I'm looking to get feedback from knowledgable people. Thats it. I buy all my spiders as slings. I have some 7 inch Klugi's I bought as slings 4-5 years ago. I would never buy an adult because I enjoy the process. I enjoy the spiders...growing them. Ive made all my purchases based on a few criteria though. Value/hype/rarity/but by far, its beauty to me. There are a few species out there that are rare that are pricey, that are hyped up but they do nothing for my eye and I would not purchase it. But for the most part the ones that are on everyones wish list, are very beautiful spiders. That Harpactira pulchripes, and the P Metalica are no exception. They are so pretty and when I see them, it makes me want to get some of those spiderlings and watch them grow into that. Has nothing to do about making a quick buck. Its all about the joy of the process of taking a little guy that has little color and nurturing it into a beautiful adult.

Calm down, it was a nudgey joke about the "stocking up for pet store" vibe.

I really don't get buying based on hype and rarity but like I said, there's hard to find Avics to go after. Coremiocnemis hoggi are rare, pricey and pretty neat...sadly there's no "hype" about them.

G. Iheringi is pretty nice. True T. blondi are also pretty rare. The black brachy. B. schroderi is also nice. It's pretty much what you like. Some people like complete genius collections so the rare ones even if they are bland in appearance are very appealing to those kinds collectors.

Going back to the poll, I have seen a good number of people looking for b. Klassi slings. I think it's because no one has them right now. Lol. My most sought after would be Heteroscodra maculata. I am far away from getting one, I don't feel experienced enough, but maybe one day. I'm not much on a poec person.

Doesn't seem like a pet store could make a lot of money off of expensive rare Spiders unless selling online. Guess the joke is still going over my head. Hype meaning everyone raves about it, and rarity meaning not as prevalent as B Smithi...like the P.metallica, or B Klassi. Then when you actually see the spiders, there beauty seals the deal as a must have. Thats basically my process. But the A purpurea is also a spider I want to get too just off look and Ive heard no hype and they seem pretty easy to get right now so its not all about that. But just on some of my purchases. Before I got some balfouri, I heard a lot about them, a lot of positive(hype) then I looked for them and saw they were kinda pricey and semi rare. I admit that made me want one even more. (rarity). I looked up pictures of them and instantly they passed my particular eye test. I did a lot of research and part of the (hype) about them was that they were a very good communal spider that hunted and ate together. SOLD, as I had nothing like that, I got a nice setup for them and days later came up on a smoking deal and got a few. Now they are set up firmly in my family room and I love watching them do there thing. They are awesome. The first time I saw the eat a dubia and all latch on...lets just say it was a great moment.
