OK I am sort of new to the hobby and I have a Chaco Golden Knee, Brazilian Pink and a King Baboon. Now I want to add more colorful species. I have my mind made up on the Redslate Ornamental but I want help deciding on a blue colored species. Help please, which is the more beautiful blue, Singapore or Cobalt? And if there any other options I am open......:wall:

I own a cobalt and they are gorgeous, but they define " pet holes."

But, you said you own a king baboon, so if you like that one, maybe a cobalt would be enjoyable.

I see mine probably once a week, and its worth it.

I also like watching them burrow.

I have a A. Versicolor sling that is growing rather quickly and is BEAUTIFUL!

Can't wait for her to mature.

Lampropelma er.. Cyriapapogus sp. blue (SIngapore blue) I woud rather own than Haplopelma lividum (Cobalt). The blue on the Cyriapapogus sp. blue I find more stunning, a deep blue with some violet hues... can't go wrong. Oh, and they get large!

P. murinus. They are the most beautiful species in the hobby. Because they breed easily they are inexpensive and readily available. Were they less available--like a P. metallica--they would cost BIG bucks. Their beauty is overlooked because of their availability.

Now how are we, complete strangers on the internet, going to know what you think is more beautiful? "Beautiful" is completely a matter of opinion and all. ;) Although I don't think it matters if the cobalt is more or less pretty, because you'll never see it. Some people say they're lucky if they see some toes sticking out of the burrow more than once a year.

Also I have no idea what a "redslate ornamental" is. English names in general are not very helpful, there is NO consistency and pet stores/dealers/breeders will gladly use whichever name for whichever species, make up new ones, use one name for multiple species, and so on. So if you know the Latin name for that ornamental, it'd help. :)

I believe he is talking about Poecilotheria Rufilata otherwise known as the redslate ornamental, I myself am considering getting a pokie and the rufilata is at the top of my list with the metallica and formosa, subfusca, pederseni and ornata are close as well.

I much prefer A. versicolor or E. weijenbeghi (sp?) Or even C. cyanopubescens. They aren't so entirely blue like a coblat (except juvie A versi!!!) but I personally think they are much more enjoyably and beautiful.

I think all three of the reasons you gave have absolutely nothing to do with the astetics(sp?) of the spider! They are beautiful for sure but saying they are beautiful because they breed easily and are readily available???

Look into green bottle blues, and although not completely blue, check out a blue fang skeleton they are pretty cool.
