Where to search for skinks, lizards or frogs?

I live in Kansas and have a lot if interesting species around my area.
Since I live in the North-Eastern part, I have a few species of skinks, lizards, snakes, frogs and even turtles living here.

I'm really close to a forest that leads into a highway or intersection and there is a lot of wild life there.
I saw a huge snake there once, plenty of rabbits and squirrels and such, so I think there will be some cool stuff down there.

Where can I go searching for those stuff?
I want a pet lizard/skink, or a frog. I heard they aren't that hard to take care of compared to turtles and such.

This whole week is rainy/very humid... Whether that is a good or bad thing, I don't know, but I thought that might be important to tell you guys for animal searching.

Thanks!~

I look under rotting logs since, it just rained you could look at bases of trees under the leafs.or if you can get ply wood and put it under some large trees on damp ground I find all kinds of stuff under it.

Thanks man! I have a large pile of wood next to my fence that was for fire wood, maybe I'll look there after it rains.

When is the ideal time to look for those things? Lizards, skinks and frogs are nocturnal aren't there? Or not. I don't know about that

Fence lizards I find those while I look around bases of trees but the are fast and they don't run straight up the tree they do circles upward.mostly skunks or frogs you might find a fence lizard near by since its food might make it home under it too, crickets roaches anything really. But be carful they can also attract snake too,I make that mistake once with a copper head they blend right in with the leafs.back to your question on sunny day you can find fence lizard on posts or on fallen over trees.even though it really sunny it mostly likely will be still damp under the ply wood it holds water pretty good.which can be a problem with being just layers of compressed wood it could start falling apart after a couple of years sorry I get off topic easily.

Lol thanks for all the info. I'll be sure to look for them.
I don't think they live that well in Kansas from what I looked up though
