So I'm looking for tropical Velvet worms. I've had the common species that seems to be available in the UK, I believe it's a temperate New Zealand species. My small colony was going well until I left for a week and a heat wave hit. Considering the species has a temperature range of 55-65'F and even though I housed them in my basement, the temperature reached 80'F and wiped them out.

Now I'm looking for tropical species. From what I've read online there are a few species that have large ranges from coastal forests to cloud forests. That would include a huge temperature range. Preferably I want species that can easily handle a range of 70'F-80'F.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

this would require buzzing some importer in Panama or similar place to get them to import them. I have no idea how to do that.

Lychas posted about an Australian species a while ago, he said they can be kept at room temperatures. Search for 'velvet worm' and you'll find the post. I've tried to contact him but he hasn't replied to my mails...

Sadly most Australian/Tasmanian species are protected or can't be exported legally. :(
