By now I assume you've all seen the newly described Taksinus bambus, however I haven't seen much other than a few melodramatic articles and as an avid aboreal enthusiast I wonder when we might start seeing them available in the states. I figure it won't be soon, especially with the pandemic, and they're start on the pricey side. Any additional information anyone has heard would also be appreciated since this species especially stands out as interesting to me.

yep, or atleast something that looks like it from the same area, i'm not sure anyone has properly checked.
Thats what I find funny. Media exploits this spider and everyone wants it because its in the news, when its already been in the hobby and people pass it us. Shows you how the media controls your wallet. Haha.

Price will triple when the name change is official even if its the same spider.

From my understanding, yes they were an undescribed species that was present in the hobby before classification. I don't think anyone knew about their more specialized habitat preference though (collectors don't usually share the details of the habitat they were found in), and that discovery of their preference for bamboo kind of drove the desire to get them classified.

Thanks everyone, I had wondered if it was already in the hobby but didn't know it was that readily available already.

Yep...and your mind.... Kind of like, someone could find a minor variation of a common item and then promote it as "New and Unique" and the flocks will come a calling. Reminds me of a new commercial I've seen on TV where they are promoting a pre-biotic that is supposed to be "For Women" only to help women poop. So for all these years, it was a one probiotic for all humans that worked just fine, but now there is an exclusive "For Women Only" ..... targeted no doubt for their spending habits...
