I am new to spider keeping and this is my first one She is a Philippus regius I got her as an FH2/3 but she moulted a few days ago and is eating. She comes out of her hammock (run back when she sees me maybe afraid of me?) Anyway, I was wondering when I could rehouse her to something smaller?

The reason is that I think it's too big for her right now (8Lx6wx14h) and she can't hunt that well would like to move her to something smaller (4Lx4Lx8H) but when is the best time to do so?

Yes, definitely rehouse her especially if she can't hunt that well. Are you using the Zilla microhabitat? How long have you had her?
I would rehouse her anytime. Just use a paint brush to gently move her into a cup and place the cup into the new enclosure. If she hides in her hammock, just gently use the paintbrush to nudge her out. :)

Thank you for the response.
Yes I have the large Zilla microhabitat I just didn't know she would be this small. I have her for a month now? give or take

That's what I mainly use too, I really like them! I have bought some 2x2x4 inch enclosures from Etsy too, I'm not sure what FH2/3 means exactly, but thought I'd mention that you can get some smaller ones too and upgrade later to the bigger enclosures from there. ☺

Usually the fh/i and whatever number that follows donates the number of times the sling/spider has molted. Jumping spiders start off in an egg sack at birth and commence their first molt within. After that molt they move out of that sac and are usually considered at that point a nymph designated by fh1 or i1. The next molt they are considered i2 or l2 (larvae) and so on. Some say phidippus regius or audax can molt up to 7 or 10 times to full adult. I'm sure instar 2 to 3 slings can remain alone in smaller 2 oz containers until maybe 5th or 6th instar and move them into larger enclosures. You want to make sure they can easily find their prey and also observe the slings easier.

Ah ok, I see! I was used to saying instar but I didn't know what fh meant, thanks!

Took me some research when @ForTW on this forum used that "fh1" when I first posted the slings I received. It seems (but it depends on who you talk to I guess) the fh or I for instar, or l for larval are interchangeable

FH is the Moment the babies leave the nest and start feeding on their own.
Prälarva equals L1 (eggs with leggs)
Larva L2
1 FH etc.

If the Males do seven molts/instars to adulthood this is equivalent to 7FH, so L1/L2 have to be included and we have a total of 9 molts beginning from the Egg.

I agree, you do have to use capital letters there :).
