When should I separate and feed my new born Habronattus Pyrrithrix slings? Do they sometimes go back into the sac?

So the female H. Pyrrithrix I had caught had laid eggs and they finally started coming out of the sac yesterday morning, I counted 13 today before I left the house and I came back and only counted about 5..? I’m not sure if they’ve already started eating each other because they’re literally maybe a day or two old. I put some fruit flies in (3) but I believe the mama spider ate them herself. Im wondering if I should keep them all together for about a week? I might just let the stronger ones feed on the weaker and smaller ones first but im not sure, I feel bad for doing that but I guess the weaker ones might die anyways? Not sure…

about half of them dying is normal/average
its not necessarily true they are eating each other. they just die from failure to thrive/not being fit. if their abdomen isnt eaten/mangled, then they probably just died naturally.

take mom out, put in a lot more flies. mist them so they can drink
if they dont all make it, its not too surprising from such a small clutch.
generally yes, the weakest ones are the only ones who get eaten, unless they are starving.

Thank you for the super speedy response! I kind of noticed that the babies are scared of the fruit flies when they’re just casually walking too close to them, should I just wait until they molt again? I see maybe 2 of them that have already made a tiny tiny web the rest are just chilling around the little container I have for them, I did see another thread where someone was cutting up meal worms which I have as well, maybe I should try that?

No problem!

No, if they are out of the egg sac, they need to be eating, they cant molt without it

It would probably be better for them if you kill the fruit flies for them rather than cut up mealworms to scavenge!
Theyre such a small species, i dont see them having as much success as phids from scavenging such large prey.

If they arent eating in the next few days, feel free to message me. But they should be taking them, if they are healthy. Babies that are failing to thrive will starve themselves though, because they naturally dont want to waste resources they wont use.

Hey, so a little update I have like 20 something now I believe they did eat the fruit flies cause I don’t see any alive 😂 I’ll definitely put more tomorrow but honestly I’m trying to think because they’re allllll bunched up near the cap of the container I’m using I want to flip it over but I have like a piece of paper towel in there that I mist and lightly soak so they have water to drink but I might flip the container over so they can just chill at the “bottom” of the container since the bottom of the container will technically be the elevated part. I’m so scared when I have to separate them 😂 they’re freaking tiny af but it’ll definitely be so much easier on me to feed them one by one🙄. I do want to buy another regal (female) and have some regal babies though cause you’re right this species is literally so small I’m so afraid of squishing them by accident simply from just trying to even remove this piece of paper towel out so I can spray it some more

Or I mean I’m afraid of flipping this container over BECAUSE of the paper towel I have in there, it’s definitely going to like land on a few of them, I know some are bound to die and I have a lot anyways so accidentally killing them wouldn’t be the end of the world but damn I’d feel so bad💀

true but at least they’re like dark in color these are like literal specs of dust and I’m like😥 i cut up a meal worm just to see if they’ll eat it from smelling the guts. Looks like they’re actually eating it or going up to it and smelling it at least hahah I’ll update you after I see them molt another time!
