So I was just thinking... How many T's does everyone usually get at one time?
Depends on a few things, like the price. I usually try to order at least $150 worth just to make up for shipping. No point spending $30-$40 on shipping for $40 worth of Ts in my opinion.

So then, it's never really about the number of Ts to me. I don't sit there and go "I need to order six more Ts this month."

I'm lucky I have a local expo every 2 weeks close to where I live. I get all my T's there so I don't ever have to factor in shipping costs by purchasing online. My only number requirement is that I buy a minimum of 3 slings. Depending on price I like to try and get 5-10 slings of whatever species I'm getting. I figure that's the best way to build up stock for future breeding.

Order as many from your wish list as you can afford or that is available. Buying them all at once saves boo coo bucks on shipping charges ;)

I wish I had an expo to get them from and im really bad about buying one at a time. Mainly because the website i bought from had one and didnt have any others I was interested in. I would like to trying breeding at some point but, still pretty new to all of this.

I'll usually have a set amount of money available in my budget, so I'll either make one pricier purchase (e.g. a larger confirmed female) or a few smaller and less pricey unsexed specimens.

Unfortunately, I can only get 1-3 slings or 1 sub-adult. My parents dont want that many Ts. Lucky for me LOTS of opportunities. lol

I usually get $150-$700 worth of inverts, so maybe about 7-15 Ts and few scorpions and/or centipedes. I usually do this 2 times a year--when there's an expo--.

While I think buying online is amazing, I've only bought one of my 6 Ts online. Nothing against it I just happe to have an expo near me and some kind and generous friends who donate to me. As everyone's saying though the more you buy at once when dealing online the better since shipping typically doesn't change so buying one T and having a third of the price be in shipping isn't as appealing as buying x amount which makes the shipping worth it.

Slings I try to buy at least 3 per species to increase the odds of getting a female, but for the pricier ones it's probably not going to be more than 2. For sexed females I just lurk until I find someone selling 2 or more of the species I want so I can cut down on shipping. Not much luck so far but there's still months of good shipping weather ahead.

I'm in a really crappy area for the hobby so online is all I have to work with. There are only 3 pet stores near me - Petco, Petsmart, and a dumpy privately owned store that specializes in fish. The only expo I'm aware of is a 2 hour drive and the one vendor there with T's doesn't have much.

10-20+. I trade some of the slings I breed, so all I'm usually paying for is shipping.

If I averaged the amount of Ts I've bought vs orders

2... 2 is my average order.

5 is my biggest.

I have slings to juvies to adult females

Im with ya there. The local pet store isnt very good about keeping tarantulas but, they are nice people ill give them that.
How difficult is it to breed? I would like to try that way down the line. I have two versicolors and two minatrixs (all of them are slings so, male or female of both is probably slim).

I have no set amount of money/slings. I buy whatever is on the top of my wishlist if it's available. Shipping in Bulgaria usually costs something like 3-4$ so it's not a problem.

I've found that some websites have "breeder specials" or "bulk specials" where they sell large orders of spiders for cheap. I usually get a few of those when I order because they're a good deal, so I spend around $200 for like 15 spiders.

I guess ultimately its all about what your into getting, that will always determine size of order. You could get 15 NWs for the same price as a few OWs. This ALL depending on the species, just making an analogy
