have you tried digging? It always works for me, especially under flower pots or actually under most things, wood etc.

What kind of worms?

We used to raise night crawlers and sell them as fishing bait. We live in Erie, PA. In the spring and summer we would water the yard with a sprinkler for several hours, you have to really drench it (or after or during a good rain). Use a flashlight, the glisten in the light, you have to grab them quick and pull straight up. They will rarely be all the way out of the ground and quickly pull back down.

We would catch tons of them this way. You have to really drench the ground and be quick. You will get pretty good at catching them after a few tries. Also must be dark and you have to move slowly.

Where are you located?

Go to any fishing tackle/bait shop and ask for Lob worms. You can buy them by the bucket load.

I see Tons of them after a Good rain. Also got to a Fishing Bait store, you can usually get about 2 dozen NightCrawlers for $2, even the Local wal-mart sells them.
