Some of you may remember a while ago I made a thread asking what the tapping sound in my scorpio maurus's tank was. Well last night I finally caught it making the sound. It was sat on its piece of cork tapping it with its body. It was almost like a crappy attempt at vibrating. Is it trying to tell me its horny? Or what?

My male does this a lot, its one of 2 things in my opinion, 1. Mating ritual, although I'm not convinced as i have seen him mate and this vibrating thing didnot come into it. 2. A teratorial thing, again not 100% as Emps are not know for their teratorial dehaviour, however my Emp first started doeing it after i put a Spinifer in with him. Before everyone says you should not have done that, they both live fine, well tolerate each other. My female on the other hand does not do any of this vibrating thing. Anyone got any ideas

I've also noticed my scorpion to do this... It seems that its paticularly the male though I've seen the female do it to when they get in spats. But he's also done it when there was nothing wrong and all and he was resting. Maybe they are discharging?:8o

Yep!

Scorpio m.p. has been known to produce these kind of drumming sounds.
It is saying: "Hey pretty ladies, I'm right here!! I'm ready for IT know"!! They make these clicking noises to attract females. Opisthacantus asper males tap the bark there sitting in on with the same intention.
My O.dentatus males, P.imperators etc. all vibrate with their pectines to communicate (even when in seperate tanks next to eacht other LOL).

Ok thats what I was thinking, because my female is or was (so i thought) already pregnant, and the male entered her little log hole and started shaking. She didn't do anything, Im guessing she just ignored him. However, now she is very quite, and isolated. She wont come out of her burrow for anything...Think its gonna happen?! :? {D

I have a gravid Emp. due any day now, and she became more and more reclusive as the pregnacy progressed, infact i havent seen her at all for close to 3 weeks. When she first got pregy, she dug her self a masive tunnel and cave complex, some 20 inches long, and 6 inches deep, but was still out and about at night. Then gradualy spending less and less time out side the burrow, up to now, which if my calculations are correct she is due this month or next. I know hes still ok as food goes in, but doesnt come out!!
