Less activity when it's not sunny may not have anything to do with the temperature. Phidippus are diurnal spiders, meaning they're most active during the daytime, and I notice mine are inactive if there's not a bright light on in the room - even though the temp in my spider room is in the upper 70's (so plenty warm). You might try putting a lamp near the enclosure (not shining directly on the enclosure, just next to it to provide some general illumination) and see if that helps it to be out and about more often. If you use an incandescent lamp it will help raise the temperature slightly, as well.

If your house is on the cooler side (mid- to low-60's F or less), then it may be necessary to provide supplemental heat. If this is the case, you can get a small heat mat and attach it to the side or back of the enclosure which will allow your spider to move closer or further from it as needed. The type of heat mat isn't really important - just get one that fits on the enclosure and is low wattage. Here's a good thread that you can read through for more ideas on how to safely and effectively use a heat mat: https://arachnoboards.com/threads/the-proper-use-of-heat-mats.348429/

Our spirders rarely leave their hammock unless its a sunny day! We have led grow lights, but the sun is what really gets them going! Im lucky to have a south facing window which is bright in the morning but never overheats. They LOVE the view too! Im not kidding, they react every time a car goes by!

Room temp is fine unless you go below 67 often .
