Ever heard of Iraqi "camel spiders"? Same thing, different continent. Not spiders, scorps, mites, ticks, etc but yes they are Arachnids.

Where did you find it? Location and what type of habitat?

I have lived in California all my life and never seen one. Now I want to go out and look!

That is cool! Congrats on your find!

be careful, they can jump 3 feet, have tissue-destroying venom, and scream as they run after you to attack you

(j/k of course ;))

they are cool little critters but are somewhat difficult to keep in captivity. even more difficult to breed, but it can be done. i usually ooh-and-ahh and then release. man do they get pissy too, angry little devils they are

I have found them in south Texas.... very fast. Never kept one though but have heard several times that they are very delicate in captivity.

I caught a huge one when I first moved to Vegas, I kept it in a kritter keeper and fed it cricks. they have a heck of an appetite and attitude! When I would walk in the room it would rear up and open its huge jaws at me like it was trying to intimidate me. When I fed it..it would almost bite the cricks in half and move each side of its jaw separately back and fourth while eating.

Here's another example:

This is one I caught in South Africa earlier this year:

This guy had an enormous legspan and it was thick for a sunspider.

Not to go way off topic but...
Is the utensil used in these pics intended for this use?

My ma just got one of those contraptions as a gift and was told
it's to remove eggs from boiling water!
She was like 'wowwwwwwwwww.. what a souvenier!"
(Yeah it was a souvenier.... the wackest I've ever seen...)
Now I see it in this pic! So I thought I'd ask...

The one she got can be pressed so the screened section opens, but if you release
your hold, it closes.....
We were thinking along the lines of proper use being to
fill it with herbs and make tea... maybe we were both wrong though!
If it's the same tool, your use makes alot more sense!

The tool used above is constructed from 2 tea strainers that were affixed to large tongs. They were constructed so that we could pull katydids out of acacia bushes without tearing our hands.

I have a few G. Granti still. Very difficult to breed successfully. Nice find, heres a giant one(this one is immature still). There are some cool looking fuzzy ones also, I added pics of both :D

My dealer had a bunch in, I think hes out right now though. I got lucky with the fuzzy egyptian one, not easy to find. I tried breeding them but it was alot harder than I expected.

It's funny, because people say this about tarantulas ALL the time. They're such a diverse group and they're very misunderstood - like tarantulas. Stop being such a hypocrite and do some research.
