What should I put in this tank?

Not very deep substrate, but it's good height and even good floor space. 1 piece of cork bark glued to the backwall for them to get behind and a tall tree with a hollowed hole to get in also. It's too high for terrestrial, right? What spiders are best suited for this tank. Is it too high for OBT? They climb some too, right? Too much floor space for a aboreal? Do you think they'd like it? Tell me if you think I should make any changes.

How big is it? Or how big is the computer monitor behind it?

Depending on what you say the dimensions are, I'd say that looks just about perfect for a GBB.

Funny, Joe, I was thinking it looked communal as well. I will leave the species up to you though, as I have never had any communes.:)

Thanks to everyone for your imput. I only have 2 Ts right now and don't feel I'm up for communal. I'm considering Avicularia versicolor or Poecilotheria regalis for this tank. I just wondered if they are strickly aboreal. If I throw a cricket on the substrate, can/will they go down to get it? And if they'd even bother to climb down and go in the hollow tree trunk.

I love the look of this tank, its awesome! From my limited experience, looks like it would be a cool OBT tank, considering they are semi-arboreal. Someone else might be able to clarify this moreso.

Shane's right, that tank would be best for a communal or something that would be semi-arboreal(ish).

Avicularia and Poecilotheria are both strictly arboreal.

If not an H. incei communal (which I think is an amazing idea ;) ) then I would go with a GBB or OBT.. though, they will web up all the pretty decorations quite a bit.. I think one of those two species would be perfect in there.

Another vote for the GBB. You know you want one.

arent GBB semi-arboreal?
I'd say yes.

Problem is, anything you get is going to either have to be communal (wink wink) or full-grown, considering the size of the tank. I don't see many adult female GBBs for sale, and they aren't exactly cheap either.

That's a good point. +1 for communal.

Put an H. incei communal. :D
I completely agree. They aren't really any more work than a single T, just more food!!! Plus H. incei stay pretty small.

I have two H. incei right now (kept together) but I do plan a communal in the very near future with 20ish to start!

There is a communal photo posted in the Canadian forum I will try to dig it out.
