I just went to agway and asked them for a nonmedicated chick feed and they told me to get this stuff called Game and Turkey grower and I get the stuff home and I look at the ingredients and one of them is ethoxyquin which a site from google says is an insecticide. I put some apple and celery in with them but any recommedations on cat or dog food. I am going to give the feed to my parents friends who have ducks so it's not a total waste. Any help would be appreciated.

Feed them the soft and rotten fruits and veggies in the back of the fridge... :)

I would just use any dog food....although most people around here could take you deeper into that subject ;)

The feed that I give my roaches is the following.
1 cup ground kitten food
1 cup ground dog food
1 cup ground unmedicated chick food
1/2 cup unmedicated chick food [not ground]
6 tablespoons of powdered milk ground
6 to 8 tablespoons of ground up goldfish flakes
mix everything togather.
Some people will say to use powdered milk, others say no. Personal experence, I have used it for years. If you cannot find chick mash its niot a big deal to skip it. Buy the cheapest goldfish flakes that you can find. Wal-mart stores are hard to beat for the flakes.
I've been toying with this idea, I live less than a block from a farm and garden CO-OP store that sells all rypes of feed. I can purchase a 10 lb sack of unmedicated chick mash for about $4.00. I could purchase the feed if anyone would be interested and ship it if anyone has trouble finding it where they live. The slow boat mail [3rd class bulk] would cost a little more than the feed itself.

Clint,
The brand name is "Quality Feed" unmedicated AP Poultry. It looks like tan mini rabbit pellets. Any co-op type store should carry it. Read the labels on the 20 or 50 pounders and they should say unmedicated even if it is a different brand. LOTSA LUCK!!
Another thing you can use is unmedicated hog food. The only drawback for the latter is you must buy it in a 50 pound sack....

I use wahetver is handy... apple cores... romaine lettuce, spinach, carrots... etc. They never really took to cat food.
