What kinda beetle is this?

Was found in the morning near a light, actually I saw 2- 1 on the wall by the light, 1 on the ground under the light.
Both seemed very lethargic/weak.
Found in Sacramento Ca.


What do beetles eat anyways, it seemed to me to be near an all-night light to catch other bugs.
Hasnt touched a piece of lettuce I gave it.

Ok, now that I turned the lights out, they have come to life!

Both are vigorously trying to escape and fly.

You realize "what do beetles eat" is like saying "what do animals eat" right? There are more species of beetle than there are all other species of insects combined. Beetles make up the majority of species on the entire planet.

THe genus of your beetle is a male Polyphylla. Not sure of the species.
