What kind of turtle is this?

I have this pond around the cornor of my house the other day I was feeding the fish in there and out of no where these turtles came out. There was never turtles in that pond before so, the next day I brought my bread and waited to see if they would come agian and they did. I pulled one out of the water and took a couple pics of him then I released him back into the water. There's like 4 big ones and like 2-3 little ones and they all look somewhat different. I don't think there native I think at one time they where somebodys pets then they probably didn't want them anymore and just throw them in there so now there in there multipyling. I just want to know what kind of turtle this is and are they native to arizona?

Sam,

BTW, is bread ok to feed to them?

Yep Red Eared Sliders, and I would say you are right with the released pet idea. They are always sold in pet shops, correct me if I am wrong but aren' they like the most common pet turtle. I used to have one when I was a kid, klinda messy and smelly, but most aquatic turtles would be I would guess. They probably grew to big and so they released them into the pond

Thanks to the popularity of those as pets back in the 70's, red eared sliders have been introduced just about everywhere, especially areas near cities.

Yeah they are just every where, I even encountered them when I lived in a coatal town in Texas. They staked out nice little claims in all the freshwater ponds, the farmers had for their cattle. Also a great place to find water moccasins, of all sizes and ages.
