Was going through my camera roll and found this scary looking guy I found in my condo in California a while back. Curious what it was if anyone knows.

It reminded me of this one I found in my house yesterday (although I can see they are very different) -- which I am also trying to identify.

The first one appears to be the Noble False Widow, Steatoda nobilis, and in California, the second is likely to be the Western Parson Spider, Herpyllus propinquus.

1st pic was taken in California second in N.C. So it looks like I had the False Widow in Cali.

If the second spider was in North Carolina, it will be the Eastern Parson Spider, Herpyllus ecclesiasticus, rather than the Western Parson Spider. The two are pretty much identical.

OK cool - I did a bit of reading on them both. The "Noble False Widow" is interesting.

Thanks for your time and help.
