You might consider placing it in an enclosure more consistent with its habitat.

These skinks are the most arboreal of the North American Eumeces. Although they do occur in urban areas, their preferred habitat are humid forest areas with abundant leaf litter, especially oak forests. They forage on the ground, but also easily and often climb trees for shelter or sleep or searching for food.

if this was really a salamander I would be sad in the poor choice of habitat you are keeping it in even more so then stated above. lol

Its not an insect invertabrate- it should be in not so spineless wonders ;)
Its not a salamnder, its a skin, as said above. Broad headed.
It should be rehoused to a leaf litterish substraight with a hide or two, and something to climb on.

other then that, nice find.

A thousand apologies. It was my friend David that posted this, and this is his Skink. I wasn't sure what it was so I told him to just hop on my account and ask on the boards since I was out. I'll contact him now and let him know about the habitat. Again, apologies, and thanks :D

Cool, looks like a male too going by the big triangular head(jaws). I like those but most seem to be kind of nervous acting.
