What kind of roaches are these?

Matthias bought a small colony of feeder roaches at Lee Watson's swap yesterday. Problem is, he didn't ask what kind they are. They are not hissers, I know that. They are two toned in color, they lay eggs instead of live birth, and they can't climb glass or plastic. The males have wings but can't fly, only glide if they fall. Anyone know what they are?

they might be brazilian cockroaches? i have had thouse before.

Might be Blatta Lateralis, how big are they, do the females have wings?

No the females don't have wings, only the males, they get about an inch, and males and females are very visably different.

Sounds like they are indeed the Turkestan roach, also called "red runners". Males are reddish, females brown. As much as I deplore common names, I didn't start with the scientific name because it is seemingly controversial. Blatta lateralis is most common and long-lived, but it may now be Shelfordella lateralis/tartara.

very fast breeding roach.. I have around 400, mostly adults, eggcases left and right, i have yet to hatch any though.

guess im gonna have to start collecting the egg cases and manually incubating.

How would you "manually incubate" them? Moist peat? heat? Just curious cuz Im getting some soon
