A very famous and celebrated arachnid, especially in recent years after soldiers in Iraq encountered some of the world's largest species and brought home preposterous legends about them that still run rampant.

People believe that they're dangerously toxic, that they jump a hundred feet, that they will gouge out your eyeballs in your sleep, that they lay eggs in the stomachs of camels and eat their way out ala Alien, and all manner of other absurdities. Some photos of them have become internet fad-jokes.
