and what kind of enclosure do they need

I know it's some kind of mantid, but I surfed thru so many sites searching for info on my b'loved Tarantulas that I have no idea where I got this pic...

please advise, thanks!

i think its a Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii although im not sure, they get around 8cm when adult and produce wings on their last moult. they eat crickets, moths, mealworms, anything that moves and is smaller than them! hehe. you can keep them in PetPals mine are in them. my adult H. parviceps is in a big 15inch long, 10inch high 10inch front to back tank hes getting old so he might die in a few months/weeks..as your in the US i dont know where to get them from...

mantis

yep
i think its a wahlbergii, I had one a few years ago.
they are great, when they moult into an adult - have "circle-targets" on their wings
when i have mantids, i dont usually keep them in tanks or mantis-tubes, just let them live on my house-plants, and eat all the flies and spiders in the house

You could try asking the people at Regal Reptiles seeing as it's their picture :)
{D LOL @ me! {D

Oy, I guess I need to not be so tired when I post questions, and then look *carefully* at pics before I ask about them! {D

Thanks for all the ID conjectures. I'm sure I have plenty to go on now! Come to think of it, the people at Regal Reptiles probably had the pics up bc they had some "mantid-lings" or something!

I know what this is and where you can get one.
Your Pseudocreobotra are very cute but an adult would sit in one side of the pronotum of this species.

Oh yeagh, Pseudocreobotra reach 4cm and can be smaller than 3cm (1" = 2.55cm, in other words the Pseudocreobotra are around an inch and a half). You'd have to cut off the wings and glue them to the butt and strech out the front legs and include them to reach 8cm. Normal measurements are head to end of abdomen or wings.
