So i am wondering why there is so much people saying orbweavers are hard to keep. The orbweavers i am keeping ( Araneus diadematus) are one of the most notoriously "hard" to keep. I have found them super easy to keep. It's not really that hard only around $100 per enclosure, and when considering that sometimes the spider is more than the actual enclosure its a good deal! So i assume that the main reason orbweavers are so "hard" to keep is just because of the enclosure requirements.

I used to catch them they would either die from old age or dehydration so I usually let them free I had a huge cage for them but now it’s in the garage. Argiopes sadly they never came back after released so didn’t have successful eggs.

Just lifespan.. A cardboard box tipped up with clear plastic taped across the front and a flap cut in the top is a good enough enclosure. Or a corner of the ceiling...

From what I understand, with Orb Webs once their main web, that they spend a lot of time constructing , is broken or destroyed they never construct another and just perish

Only when they're done for the season, after laying eggs and stuff, they'll rebuild if they are still hunting.
