Hello everyone! I am currently doing research with the University of Toledo and I am working with O. texicolens. Does anyone know what the exact chemical is that is excreted from Orthoporus texicolens as a defense mechanism? It is yellow in color and smells shockingly similar to a horse barn hah!
I just received a shipment of 24 millies today and because of the cold, they were rather immobilized. After heating them back up to a healthy temperature they all started excreting their noxious defense chemicals.
The excretions should not create any issues with my research, however, I just want to be safe and have it on record just in case it does cause any future issues.
Thank you all!
