Put "prolapse" in the search bar and compare.
Are you sure it's male?
I was- and it sucked whatever it was back in. I’m not 100% certain on how to tell the gender of Mads, but he certainly has little horns and I bought him in a package of 3 other males.

I think your boy is a female, because that sure looks like an ootheca to me... Probably infertile.

He/she sucked it back in. And I bought him from a site that specifically said he was male, he came with 3 others as well.

She... will sometimes air out an ootheca for temp or humidity reasons, and sometimes abort(drop it). Sucked back in is a good thing.

If it sucked it back in, then that's a female with an ootheca. Are his horns as big as the other males?

I remember you wanted males because you didn't want to breed, so I'm guessing the conditions aren't conducive to viability and the ootheca will probably be aborted. Would have to know how warm and humid you're keeping them, and if it is indeed a female.

@madagascarhissinglover, can you post a picture of the pronotum and a ventral view of the abdomen of your cockroach? It'll help in sexing your cockroach. I have a large colony of MHC and it sure looks like yours has an ootheca and therefore a female.

He has some of the biggest "horns" in my group. Now that I'm looking at them all I think they may all be female- though I'm not completely certain on how to find that out for sure.
And I don't really have them at a specific temperature or humidity. I tried to keep them at a lower humidity, and didn't ever mist, so as to discourage any breeding if any of them were misgendered.

I can try- they hate when I hold them but I'll see if I have any pre-existing pictures that would work.

Do either of these work? It’s difficult to get a central view of a roach who hates being held haha

Did you avoid pairs thinking you would be overwhelmed? They grow very slowly.

Maybe they thought any of them with horns are male lol. Wondering why they keep seeing more males in there every week... Oh well, ship 'em!

They will reproduce even in the harshest of conditions. I bred them for years, and what you got there are 2 females simply judging by just the pronotum. They love what I call banana burgers. Just bananas mashed up with regular white bread into patties. They look like 2 healthy beautiful ladies. Looks like you take great care of them. If you get a male/s you will have no way of stopping them from breeding.
Edit: oh and the thing hangin from the butt could be an aborted ootheca or a viable one too if she mated before she was sold to you.
