What is a the largest acrylic enclosure size/brand for arboreal Ts that does not have a mesh lid?

I don’t think they use mesh on acrylic? Not the big well known companies anyways.

tarantula cribs does everything in acrylic.

as far as glass goes: reptizoo and komodo work with punched metal. So its fine.

weaved mesh being the issue, in terms of big names, exoterra is the one still using mesh.

i have to find a video where Dave from little beasties noticed a brand whos top mesh rusts a bit.

if i could afford and get model i want, id probably get a tarantula crib, as long as they are not sliding lids.

reptile growth also has a nice arboreal. No woven mesh. Its not the largest though.

i also noticed the spider shop has an XL acrylic no mesh. In UK though. Way out of my price range.

jaimies tarantulas also have been doing a model for a long time. But this is not something i got to see in person because, unlike tarantula cribs, we don’t get them in canada. Tom moran used some.

what species are you looking to house? Maybe glass would be your best option, considering no warping and less escape risks.

Larger Acrylic Enclosures equates to more Surface Area, and depending on Design, Thickness, Quality of Materials, Tolerances, etc.
' Could ' result in a higher risk of warping / malfunctions.

Acrylic lids will warp with moisture. 12x12 is the largest acrylic lid I’ve seen and I’d only use that with a dry loving species.

What do you use for the biggest humidity loving species?

Even the canopy lids? Or just the flat ones?
Also do glass lids with drilled holes exist? Most people say mesh lids are bad for Ts because the tarsal claws can get stuck.

I should specify that I’m referring to 12x12 lids on all acrylic enclosures. I use drilled acrylic sheets to replace mesh lids on Exo’s, but I use quality 1/4” thick sheets. T Cribs offered a replacement lid of higher quality acrylic for his 12x8 that I learned the warp lesson on….purchased in addition to the 12x8 enclosure I’d already purchased for an extra $25 or so.
@Matt Man can explain the difference in acrylic sheets better than me.

Ah ok, so if i'm reading that right, you initially went with the tarantula cribs exo terra lid replacement, it warped, and then you drilled holes in/cut to size a generic 1/4th inch acrylic sheet you purchased? ...or did you purchase the 1/4th thick one with holes already in it?

Are the XL tcribs a bad idea for large humid species if I use the canopy lids?

I will buy glass tanks used if they are dirt cheap, otherwise I don't buy anything made for animals. I'd rather spend the money on Ts. In regards to mesh, I also replace with 1/4" acrylic and haven't had any issues with warping yet, and most of those are for moisture dependent critters.

(I even try to trap some of the moisture with towels)

Matt man can also tell you about how fast he can drill it, while some of us have to do it by hand lol

Not quite. I purchased a T Cribs 8x12 slider crib. I kept my genic in it for a few months before noticing the lid being very hard to open which only got worse (especially with the humidity of the summer). This isn’t a moisture dependent species, so the sub was only moist in part of it, but that was enough. I then found T Cribs offering a replacement lid for their own enclosure of a higher quality acrylic at an additional cost. This worked and did not warp, but by this point the cost wasn’t worth what I got. I use Exo Terra’s for dimensions 12” and higher now, but purchase a sheet of high quality acrylic to shape and drill myself. Matt man also makes replacement lids with high quality acrylic and can define what makes it high quality. I’m getting a couple of his soon as making my own by hand is a serious time commitment.
