Het:
Pastel:

i was thinking about buying a ball python
het orange ghost or something like that

i figured that the females were the ones u want to have specical genes>
so i have a male het orange ghost mated with a female normale what would happen?

or other way around?

what do i need to kno before making a purchase?
i;m intersted in breeding so any of u ball python guys out there know where i should start that would help!i don;t want to spend a stupid amount of money on my first ball python project

i already own 4 normal ball pythons 1.3.0 that i started feeding myself i have never bred them .

Het is short for heterozygous...meaning that the animal carries a certain trait (Ghost for example, in Ball Pythons) genotypically, but does not express the trait phenotypically.

lol David, do you think he got that Genotypical and Phenotypical if hes confused about heterozygous?
This is the way I understand it... correct me if Im wrong..

Genotypical= carries the traits in its genes (not showing physically) Can make albino babies but does not look albino..

Phenotypical=physically shows the trait. Albino, Ghost, Anerytheristic.. whatever

To get baby albinos from a het for albino snake you would need a female het for albino to breed with a male het for albino ( or what ever trait, ghost, anerytheristic etc etc...) Or a het for albino beeding with an albino.
If you bred a 100% het with a normal you would get half the babies het and half not. They would be concidered 50% het. None showing the trait.
If you breed an albino with a normal you would get 100% hets. ALL the offspring would have the trait but none would show it.

Im probably confusing you more...

Put it in easier terms. Heterozygous mean they have one copy of the gene for the trait. Homozygous means it has both copies of a gene for a particular trait. For a recessive trait you need both copies of the gene for it to show.

nice basic intro

Actually, if you breed a 100% het with a normal, all of the babies will be 50% hets. :)

Hypo is just another trait, its short for hypomelanistic (usually). It means it produces much less melanin than a normal and more than an amelanistic (or commonly know know albino).
