This isn't my dog but I had still had a question. Dogs come in many colors brindle, white, black etc but I've never seen a RED dog before (besides maybe an irish setter or blood hound) what is this color called? or is it a photo shopped color? Most "red nose" pits arent ever this dark so I'm confused...What color would the parents have to be to get this color of a dog in the pit bull family?

That is actually a typical "red-nose" color, although this dog is NOT an American Pit Bull Terrier; it's an "American Bully" dog, which is a so-called "designer breed", meaning that it is a crossbreed of several different breeds, mostly in the Mastiff family, including Dogue de Bordeaux, American Bulldog, APBT, English Bulldog, Cane Corso, Neopolitan Mastiff, etc. The "red-nose" gene is a "dilute" gene which results from a simple recessive mutation, meaning that to get red-nose puppies you have to either have both parents that are red-nose or both have to carry the recessive gene for it, since it will not show up in the presence of a dominant gene. The gene "washes out", or dilutes, black to chocolate or liver and normal red/brown to this color and with successive generations of red-nose to red-nose breeding, you will further dilute coat color to a pale fawn, or in the case of chocolate dogs, to a taupe shade resembling a Weimaraner. Most Dogue de Bordeaux Mastiffs(the "Turner and Hooch" dog)are this color, which is more common than the black-masked variety. BEWARE of anyone trying to sell a dog of this color claiming that its parents were blue or that it had one blue and one red-nose parent, since those are two different recessive genes and when paired, two different recessive genes result in a dominant phenotype being expressed, in this case, a black or a brown dog with black pigmentation.
