Can you guys maybe confirm Buthus occitanus? I think it's strange it has a dark metasoma end... :? If not what do you think it might be?
It's about 2cm (3/4"?) now

Those long thin chelae and the thin metasoma look like Leirus quinquestriatus to me, though I admit I have no experience with that species, and in every picture I can remember ever seeing of it, it had a yellow telson, not a black one. Can't see the dorsum well enough to be sure. I'd bet it's not Buthus occitanus though.

To get close to a good ID I'll need pictures where features are actually visible. The telson and chela pics are useful, but the overviews are not.

Cheers,
Dave

I got it for free, because I've experience, from a shopkeeper who didn't really know what it was (ofcourse) other than it's captive bred (so it can't be too obscure, it was tiny when I got it) And I said:"maybe B. occitanus?" He said:"Yes Yes!! I think so"
It is quite agressive, attacking with full power, toppling over when stinging...

Dave: What kind of overview do you need? dorsal?
I can't really get a clearer view of the pectines though I'll try and count.

I thought maybe a A.australis young
Liosoma it can't be...
L.quinquestriatus unlikely

I hope this is somewhat better... :? At least you can see eye-setting and some coloration.

My humble guess would be a very young A.australis. I only say this because it has to be something that was relativly easy to breed in captivity, otherwise your dealer would have known the sp. With that coloration I can't think of anything else, though this is just a guess--not even an educated one.

Yeah I just loaded it into Photoshop and messed around with the brightness slide and the contrast slide. I didn't do anything else to it.
