What are peoples thoughts/opinions on lighting setups?

I have a collection of 11 new worlds, 2 arboreals and the rest terrestrials. They are all on a shelf and I have lit them from above with a dimmable Ikea led light. I cant really find a definitive answer if this causes stress or anything. What does everyone else do?
Edited to add my set up so people can see the type of lighting I am talking about.

I don't use lighting unless I am feeding. They are kept in a closet that I leave cracked open. I am about to move next month and they will now have a whole bedroom so they will receive window lighting.

Looks pretty but a waste of time

I have mine on a dresser that also has plants, so there's a fairly bright LED plant light overhead. As an LED light it doesn't give off much (if any) heat. My sling doesn't seem to mind the light. In fact it does appear to have a night/day cycle as a result, and I think natural behaviors are always a good thing to encourage for their well-being, in the absence of evidence to the contrary. It tends to remain hidden during the day, then come out at night to explore!

you only really need the lights if you want to have live plants. Those need the light to live, the spiders really couldnt care less. They did start hiding more during the day after i installed it.

i use an LED strip, as used in kichens, but seperate or connected LEDs are equally fine.

Make sure they don't get hot if you use them. LEDs are generally fine, but i wouldn't use regular bulbs for this reason.

Supposedly Red Light is less obtrusive. The dimmer the better imo.

:shy: edit- unless you have a 'Live Planted' "Bio Acctive", than go Grow Light with a timer to simmulate Day/Night.

Most Arachnids Prefer The Dark ;) As Do I ... The Darker - The Better. imo

Light Ruins My Night Vision ...

To answer the question, I keep a red led light on the in my spider room at all times, and if I need to see what I’m doing I’ll bring a red led flashlight or my phone

I do have a normal light bulb in the fixture I can turn on in case of emergencies but I prefer the dark room and so do my Ts, I think. No bright lights in burrows in the wild…

Please be very careful that no sunlight falls on their enclosures, it will cook them or burn them even on a cold day

For viewing and photographing spiders, full-spectrum lighting can show their colors best. Just for keeping them, don't bother with adding extra light.

I wouldn't have bothered with the extra lighting bit they don't look that bright can't see it being any issue. What I do see though is loads of free space on those shelves 😜

Thanks for the opinion on the lighting. And you are absolutely correct!! This is the new shelf set up because I wanted more room! There is an expo local to me in February and I have at least 3 more on my list to add to the collection!

I have blackout curtains on the windows of my spider room. Enough light gets through the bottom to give a weak room light but that's it. On any given day, the majority of my 100 tarantulas are out and about.

Lighting looks flashy, but I'd rather see my spiders more.
