Nope, it's not what you think. I'm not feeding my Ts a fish.
What if...... I built a acrilic enclosure with another cube (tube for arboreal) acrilic enclosure within. For like a beta or goldfish. Obviously the fish cube could be accessed separately and would be very permanently fixed. I just think it would be so beautiful to have a A. Versi enclosure with a red beta swimming in a tube in the middle.
Is this crazy? Lol

Bettas and goldfish don't do to well in those cubes, eventually someone's going to get eaten as well.

Sounds nice, how are you going to do water changes tho ?
Especially with a gigas, I would do it...

Betas only need half the water changed every week. I could use a syringe. I should have said a large clear box. Not necessarily a hand sized cube.

Actually, Bettas almost go their whole entire life in a small cylinder deli cup at pet stores. I don't doubt that they can go their whole life if needed to. Most people think "oh that is cruel" but their memory only last about 8 seconds, which the small enclosure would probably satisfy the little short termed memory fello.

You are right, most bettas unfortunately spend their entire, drastically shortened lives in small plastic cups. Contrary to what pet stores and betta products will have you believe, they ideally need at least 5 gallons of filtered, heated water to do well. Goldfish need significantly more than that.
The "X seconds of memory" thing is completely false.

These are living animals, not decoration. Get a nice red plastic flower instead.

It would be hard to meet the needs of both species. Interspecies tanks are difficult, but lucrative.

Okay.... But I can't promise I won't keep brainstorming and throwing ideas out there for you guys to criticize. Lol
Red flower? Nice.

Hmm. The secret to doing this would be to ensure the betta tank is large enough and accessible for cleaning via a suction vacuum tube thingy, like they use to clean aquariums at pet stores. You do run the risk of driving your T crazy with all that motion - if they're sensitive to it. Could take some trial and error, but hey - if you were careful and clever you could figure out a way to make it happen safely. :)

Wow, I didn't know they needed filtered water, anyways I obtained my facts from Petsmart, where I received my fish; you'd think they tell you something right at least... off to the books I go...

I do have a question though, hope this doesn't sound stupid, but is it possible if you had a T with fish in its enclosure could it possibly kill it while the fish is in the water? Kind of what like Praying mantises do. (Wait on land and then grabs the fish from the water)

Well if you had an H. Gigas then yeah that's their element and they'd love to go swimming for some fish. Not sure of any others that would fish for fish. lol

hey, i'm the dude with the guppies and Hysterocrates hercules (still unsure bout that H. Herc) anyways, i have my 5 guppies in a 5 gal portion of the tank, sealed off from the land, they are doing awesome, they dont have a heater in with it. but i do have an elite mini filter. water gets changed once a week, 10% water change. the Hysterocrates has buried herself into the substrate and doesnt come out for fishing. so my fish are safe in there anyways. if the T comes out and goes fishing? who cares....they are cheap to replace!
