Too funny to not post. I have 13 newly hatched babies, and caught one doing the famed playing dead act while checking its sex.

Now if only I could get them all feeding as well as this one...

Congratulations! Mine is the only non-ratsnake species that I own. Great species.

My 9" female is far too tough to play dead. She is a hissing cobra and not to be messed with. Lol, if she were the size of a red tail boa, she would be terrifying.

Awesome snakes,I just picked up 2 10-12inch females and a 16 inch male. Is it just me or are the males much more relaxed compared to the females? The females will not hesitate to puff and headbutt.Just hilarious to see them do it.

My male is a lot calmer than the female is also. She'll hiss and hood up if you walk by her cage, but is as calm as can be once she is taken out. I don't think I've seen a threat display from him in over a year. Females seem to have a better feeding response though. My male will go through 1-2 month hunger strikes a couple times per year, while the female has never refused a meal. She'll eat anything. In fact, she's the only snake I own who has actually tried to swallow my snake hook. That would have made a funny picture, but I was too concerned with getting the 1.5" of hook she was trying to swallow out of her mouth to grab a camera.

What do you feed them when they are so small?

I was told ours were eating pinkies when they were smaller.

They're small, but big enough to handle newborn pinks right out of the egg. I've read a couple forums where people mention feeding super small ones/reluctant feeders frozen/thawed pinkie heads. Guess T keepers aren't the only ones who practice food item disection. Hoping I can get all of mine eating without having to go there.
