she is SOOOOOO freaking adorable! :)

When I was at pestco getting my hampster there was a group of young girls looking at the hairless rats and the youngest one asked if they were naked mole rats. :p

May I suggest you call her Molly? ;)

My 7yr old promptly began calling her a naked mole rat too and wanted to call her Rufus :D My 10yr old named her Kiwi cuz she has fuzz like a kiwi {D
She is the sweetest little rat. Very calm and inquisitive (like all rats I know I know) They just never cease to amaze me how sweet they are!!!

...I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but she might have a respiratory infection. In picture 1, she has what appears to be porphrin coming from her nose. A normal respiratory infection in rats is inducated by porphrin, which rembles blood, coming from the eyes and nose. It doesn't have to be a huge amount...any amount is a good indicator. With these little guys not having a normal immune system, I would highly recommend making a trip to the vet and having her put on some antibiotics (TMPS works great because it tastes good).

She is a doll tho! Have you seen the dumbo hairless?? Oh, just to die for!

I hope she's got some good cagemate buddies to keep her warm.

I sooo want one of those rats! Can never get them by me tho :(
I went to the willdlife park on the weekend and saw 3 madagascan jumping rats! Now they would be a pet to have, they were huge and oh so cute but doubt they are legal as pets in UK lol.
Have put piccie up of them, the enclosure was really dark and they had signs up banning flash photography so pic was really really dark but you can just about make them out if you look close.

cute, but i like my rats with fur. i had dumbo's, but bought one rat that was partly hairless. seemed as if it would loose all the fur, then grow it back, same with the offspring.
i_cinder, never seen those rats. but since i have a weekness for mouse-looking critters (and my family in germany wouldn't let me own a mouse or rat), i ended up with gerbils. i did see something called a "degu" in one petshop wich looked like something i might have liked.

Mouse, degus are related to chincillas. They're cute little guys, too. If you find a place that sells them (and you decide to get one), try to get a youngster...most adults are finger biters.

herps&inverts thanks for the info, i had chinchillas a few years back while i was in VA, but had to get rid of them since after i had my daughter and seperated from my first husband i had not enough time to give them proper attention. i gave them to a friend so they wouldn't get split up.
right now i can't have a pet (i need to get rid of the ones i have :( , since i have to move and the apt mngrs here are on my case).

What a sweet little cutie! How old is she? Did you decide on a name?

Sorry, I just saw the picture and I went nuts. :D I fell in love with that sweet little face.

Sounds very similar to what my wife did lmao. I went to the 2005 canadian arachnogathering in Guelph and she went shopping. This one petstore had overbred some and were giving the babies away. She ended up with a male and a female. Anyone have a T.blondi I can borrow to make these naked things disappear lol?
