Hrrmmm……Nope.

Maybe the meal worm got it back, did enough damage, and they both went out together.

Please tell me this is just some bizarre form of taxidermy lol. If it's not, then I can't really fathom how that would happen. It kind of reminds me of the "Fighting Dinosaurs" fossil with the dueling protoceratops and raptor specimens lol. Anyway you can get a clearer picture by chance? Can you see any injury to the spider? Are the fangs still visibly in the mealworm?

Nope. That's up there. Lots of possibilities.

Fangs could have got stuck in it, but it was too much to eat yet still a mortal wound to the worm so they both died.

Or as others have already pointed out maybe the worm got a lucky shot in with it's mandibles and caused a mortal wound on the sling while it was feeding.

Truth is we will never know.

Just when we think we've figured them out, we get instances like this. Very, very strange. Sorry for your loss.

I prekill mealies for tiny slings. Couldn't have been bitten.

This sling was the smallest of my regalis sac hold backs. The other 9 were always bigger and better eaters.

Toxic meal worm?
No. It's just been in there a few days. I do sling feedings usually twice a week.
