Nope different female. I was not going to waste a male on a female that had already produced and had not molted since. The little man did get an insert before he was murdered so I guess I can still hope.

Ouch. You shoulda put a warning in that header: "Berta do not click unless you wanna see your spider get et!"

Sigh... the circle of life.

Fingers crossed that something comes of that one insert.

Sigh.......sadly I missed the insert I was trying to get that shot for you but I had to put the camera down because I sensed danger. Well I was right but not fast enough! :wall:

Now the waiting game begins. I hate when the female eats the male without knowing if the insertion was good. It's happened to me a couple of times. I hope all went well and you will have a good sac soon.

That has to be the worst. Its bad enough the males are so much smaller and some of them give us a few short years, but to actually have to watch the female kill them off is just sad. That's one of the reasons I don't mate them.

Hope all you want, it happens. My Brazilian black and white is as tame as they come and she snatched her dude up right as he pulled out. It was a slow death and it sucked to watch it happen but it is a natural part of mating. As the saying goes "hope for the best... Expect the worst."

In your experience, is man-eating (har har) totally random, or do certain females seem more likely to do it? Just curious.

In my experience certain species are more apt to eat the males. GBB's are one of those species.

In my experience, GBB are the WORST so far when it comes to introducing a male...I'm down 2 males with no inserts.
