I had asked on another thread for help with the identification of my scorp. Well - I researched your ideas and discovered it is a Paruroctonus boreus as some had suggested. Also, as John was so correct in pointing out, she is gravid and giving birth as we speak. I can see five or six so far. Anyone with experience with this type give me some info. I have experience with birth before, but years ago. I plan to observe and feed her if I can, maybe a legless cricket in a few days.
What do you all think?

I have not bred my wild caught ones, but I keep them bone dry. These little guys are great eaters and one of the easiest scorps to care for.

EDIT

p.s. What si your avatar? It looks like a cow pie;) JK

Heh, I had the same thing happen 2 weeks ago, my so-called young H. arizonensis gave birth. As it turns out, she was a different species after all. Now that the babies are off her back after 12-13 days, I'm fairly confident that my scorps are Paruroctonus boreus as well. But, I'll probably have someone come by and confirm it for me.

Kelly,

I would tend to use the dry substrate, high humidity approach. Kugellager, on the other hand, prefers to give them hides of various humidity levels. Chose what works for you and keep us posted. Regardless, you are probably looking at seperating the young in about a week when they will moult and move off her back.

Cheers,
Dave

Popped

How should I approach feeding her?
Her set-up now is for desert, should I just mist her alot. I can't really change the substrate or add very much.

What is the ventelation like? Is it possible to cover most of it with a wet towel?

Cheers,

Popped?

Dave,
She lives in a square enclosure with just desert substrate and a few hides. The top is screened so I could place a cool towel over it to add moisture. I hesitate to spray out of fear of diturbing her or agitating her. She appears to have 20+ on her back. How often should I feed her a\nd should I slow the cricket down? I will get a pic ASAP.
