Well, never had to use an ICU until now...

We were doing feedings and temperature checks tonight and our little A. amazonica sling we've had since about June was sitting near the ground, completely unresponsive to any sort of contact, but its palps and legs were twitching. It looks a little gooey around the mouth parts, but that could just be from when Mackenzie dropped some water there. Its enclosure is fine, enough humidity, ventilation, etc. We have no idea what it could be...we put it in an ICU and put it in our closet, so fingers crossed that it recovers...

Here's little Iago, not the best picture but we wanted to get it into an ICU...

If it dies, it will be our second one to die. I'm pretty much starting to give up on trying to keep Avic slings.

I am sorry to hear that. At least you know you're doing everything you can for your sling.

Best wishes.

You've had that sling since June and it's still that size? It seems pretty small for it's age. I've heard other people say that the Avic slings that don't make it are the ones that never really thrive in the first place, and I wonder if that's the case here.

I hope the little guy makes it, I'm sure you've given it the best chances for survival either way.

Sorry to hear that, hope the little fella pulls through for you. I lost both my A. amazonica slings and still to this day don't know why. I now have an A. metallica and hope that one makes it. I really hope yours pulls through.

Update:
I think it is gone, there is no movement. We will keep it in there until we are sure.
And JFB I think you are exactly right, both this one and the A. avic we had go SADS on us never thrived, only eating half of the cricket when fed, and with little growth. I believe there is a husbandry issue but I don't know what.
Thank you all for your concern

So sorry to hear :(

Don't think it's your husbandry that's off... not every sling from a sac is designed to make it, there are always going to be some casualties. In captivity, when every single sling is sold... unfortunately people end up with those weaker slings :(
