To all those who think your critter wont bite you.. Think again!

The old say is what? Its not IF you get bit.. Its WHEN you get bit..

I know there is a bite repot section.. So I am not going to go into alot of details..
But I knew my time would come soon..

Here is some advice for the Newbies.. Something I should know.. Something I NEVER do.. I just couldnt find my tongs.. Anyways NEVER shew the cricket to a hungry tarantula with your finger.. You might get got...

I didnt jerk away amazingly.. I waited until Tank my B. albopilosum released my finger.. She is 2.5''..

ANYWAYS! I just thought I would share a story of my moment of ignorance!

P.S. She got the cricket moments later! LoL!

Thats atually the first time I let my guard down.. Well atleast with my Brachypelmas.. Im actually fine now.. I was mostly in a state of shock.. Like OMG did that really just happen?!?! Finger is fine still a little numb.. None the worse.. Ill be sure to make sure I NEVER do that again.. Not for my sake the.. I was more worried about my little girl than my finger..

LOL! That same exact thing happened to me with a 1" B. albopilosum a few years ago. Pretty funny.

Babe, you dummy!

Atleast it was just a B. albo and not one of the pokie or OBT slings...

Glad you're okay :)

It's funny how things like this happen.....especially when it's one of your mild mannered ones. I'm glad for you that it was. Take care of that finger Tommy!!!

I feel real dumb for doing that.. Normally I make sure I have everything I need right there.. This time I just grabbed slings started dropping in crickets.. Watch em tag the crickets.. Kinda giggle about it.. And move on to the next one.. When I got to her.. I normally drop in cricket and she tags them in 2 seconds... This time I offer her 3 at once.. Took her a second to realize the crickets were there and she got one.. The other was wondering around aimlessly... The 3rd one started to climb out.. I went to shew it back in with the T and BAM! Lesson learned.. Use tongs! LoL!

Thanks everyone..

And no worries.. I will not be using fingers again!

Also with my Pokies & my OBT slings.. I may sound like a chicken when I say this.. But I just grab the crickets in a small container and drop them in and close their enclosure.. Quick! I understand those are not ones to underestimate... I just didnt think when I dropped my finger in like a big dummy!

I usually keep a pen with me. In situations like that, it doubles as a tool to prod the crickets if need me. Works much better than a finger. ;)
