So today I fed the little incei colony I have and saw something pretty cool actually. The largest seems to eat everyones food and today when it grabbed a larger roach one of the smaller incei shot out of their central burrow and stole it from its pedipalps. It turned into two smaller individuals and the larger one scuffling over food even tho they were surrounded by it. The smallest took the largers roach and then the larger one ran up and grabbed it back again. It was pretty neat.

haha, a little competition is always fun!

I've heard some reports of them sharing roaches as well and eating simultaneously

hehe. Those little guys are awesome to watch. Feeding time is always a treat with my, nearly 50 strong, commune. I see tug of wars happening all the time. Occasionally there will be smaller guys stealing a taste from another spider's meal. Not trying to take it away, just getting a little slurp in.

The best is when the feeders first get thrown in and all slings are in their burrows/tubes. A few seconds later it's like that scene from 8 Legged Freaks where the spiders pop out of their holes, tackle a person, then drag them back into the burrow. LOL. :D

It's really cool when momma makes an appearance. She doesn't come out often but when she does, the little guys seem to know their place. I'm not sure if they know it's mommy or if it's just that she's much much bigger than all of them. Normally she'll come out, grab a prey item, then drop it into the burrow and come out for another. She still feeds her babies even though they are all around 1" in LS now. ;)

I can't wait to have something like that one day! I have a communal H. incei set up with just 3 little guys right now... but they'll grow up, one day! And hopefully I'll get atleast one male and female out of the bunch who will breed haha

How big is the female you have?

Awe! I just started a colony of 4 H. incei yesterday. They are just now settling in. Can't wait to see how they react to food.

When I started mine, I had four... lol within the first 2-3 days, it was down to three. Since then, they have cuddled together in the same burrow and not had any problems. I am still feeding them fruit flies, because they are little.. but when they are big enough for roaches I'll be excited to see them share food!

I wanted a tarantula town since I saw Mr. Burns's on simpsons as a kid lol. Now thanks to Sath that dream has come true....I'm seriously considering building a model town enclosure eventually after I get more lol.

hehe. Glad you're having fun with the little guys.

I saw those diorama kits at Michael's the other day and was thinking about building the train station one to take pictures of my larger Ts. I'd have the train station set up and make little people with terrified looks on their faces running around. Then a nice 8" A. geniculata female crawling over the train station. ;)

Just need to find the time.

Yah, they rock. I've got a 100 strong P. murinus communal going right now too. They are all half inchers right now but I had a 5 count going until they were about 2" then separated them. You just need to make sure there is plenty of food to go around.

A P. murinus communal is both my perfect dream, and worst nightmare {D
