Hello all, well I've had a colony for a year now, it's been doing great but something is very odd with the adult females lately, they seem to be unable to produce ''normal-brown-well-sized'' eggcases but mostly whitish and small ones that don't seem viable, and i frequently see some sort of dirt instead of any egg case attached to the abdomen...I used to see brown ones popping out of their abdomen back a few months but now it seems there is a problem. the temps are not very high, in the mid 70's but i read the temp at the side where no black light is heating, so let's approximate nearly 80 F where the major part of the egg crates are( pretty close to the heat). i feed them bananas, other veggies, and dry cat food from time to time. anyone have had any issue with this?? :wall: thx for any help

The only thing that jumps out at me is that you only supply cat food "from time to time". They should have a good protien source available at all times, and lack of such could very well explain underdeveloped egg cases...

Find a feed store and get some unmedicated chick mash at about $9US for a 50lb bag. See if that doesn't fix the problem, and good luck...

well i actually checked my tank thoroughly and there is still uneaten cat food, and its been a couple of days since i last gave them some, so i'm pretty sure they do have access to good proteins all the time, i do know its important for them. i also checked on the bag of cat food, i can't find any indication that its medicated in the ingredients, the only thing i noticed is that there are conservation agents, is that a problem?
