weird...changing color spider?

I was out working with my dad and saw this weird little green spider. It was about a cm big. I dont know anything about spiders im more of a scorp person so i just wanted to know about this. Anyways yeah i scared it and it move to a rose bush where it changed colors to red to match with the stem of the rose(which was red for some reason). I tought it was kool but didnt want to catch it because i tought it had bitten me and i wanted to kill it more than i wanted to get it. I spared it's life because ive never seen a camauflaging spider. Any ideas on what it was?

Closest I could think would be a Thomisid crab spider, although their color change is supposed to be slow, over the course of days. These spiders are easily recognizeable, so if you find a decent picture you'll know if you have one or not.
